I just bought a flip key/remote for my 01 maxima. The key folds down to the left side and when i push that silver button it flips out.

The key on the side and hinge makes it twice as thick as my plain remote fob. This thing is big and bulky. Thicker than an iphone. If i designed it i would have made the key lay flat instead, it would have been wider but half as thick, or i would leave it fat but have my house key and a usb drive flip out of the other side.. Anyways, Under the remote guts portion is quite a bit of unused room, the lower half of the fob really.

I believe I could fit 2 x2450 coincell primary batteries or a rechargable liion coincell, lion rectangular or Lipo. Too thin for aaa.

Im not really sure where i would go from there though. dual 5mm led, maybe something much brighter. regulation? Buy each part or hack another light to fit? what kind of button? Some recommendations on where i could get started would be awesome.

I forgot i have a machinist in the family, too much work to design one also w/ flip out house key though.
I could maybe have him copy the bottom half of the case out of aluminum, that would give me good heatsinking for a much more powerful light. On monday after its cut and programed im going to tape aluminum foil to the bottom to see if it that interferes with the transponder and/or remote reception. Without heatsinking im pretty much limited to 5mm leds right?

Primary or rechargable lithium 2450s would work. Havent seen rectangular liions for sale. i could fit a single LiPo but im not sure about the voltage and i dont have a charger for that.

I'll get some pictures of the inside later when i can.

Thats what I'm leading towards. Though I'm still planing on the foil testing. I don't want to cut out the spacer and then find out that all the metal coincells below mess with the reception either.

I gave my mom my lighthound fauxton. I dont like the blue tint but two of those leds would give sufficient brightness. More brightness is always better though.

If i did go with a more powerful led, w case aluminum heatisink i wouldnt have any room for a seperate optic or reflector so i would need to be a more focused one to start.
