I found (and bought) a new light at Target today. The brand is "ForeSight", and it was US$14.95. It's similar in appearance to a 6P, but with a bright clear anodized finish and a larger diameter body.
Fit and finish are decent on the outside, but the threads are kind of rough. They look and feel as if they were die-cut after anodizing rather than lathed. They are rather coarse and are not compatible with SF/SL/etc. parts.
The bulb is a strange little flange-based part mounted in a spring-loaded module. I would estimate light output at 40 lumens or so - definitely somewhat less than a P60. Color is noticeably more yellow (with the provided batteries) than a SF. Don't know what runtime is yet.
The beam is "focusable", with a textured metal reflector. Beam quality is better than some "focusable" lights, but nowhere near is good as a P60 or a Maxfire. The spot is slightly smaller than a P60 at tightest focus, expandable out to a broad flood.
All in all, it's prettier than a Maxfire (and a LOT prettier than an LX), but not as good value as a flashlight, IMHO.
Mod possibilities: It won't accept a P60 out-of-the box, but it looks like one lathe cut on either the lamp assembly or the light itself would make it fit. The existing reflector and lamp holder look like a decent home for a Luxeon.
