It was real foggy last night, so I had a little fun.

Superb! I would have loved to have been there to see that. The beam on that MaxaBeam is astounding.

Believe it or not the first three shots were the Aspheric 1C Mag. But yeah, the MB is amazing, aspecially in fog. It is literally a light saber.

Those were all taken at 8" f/5, the same as the shots in my "Got Throw" thread. That's exactly how it looked in person.

Yep,

Definitely fun in the fog... Nice shots !!!

Can't wait to make some foggy beamshots myself..

Ra.

I like that needle thin MB sideview shot and aspherical is doing very well too with only 3-4W power. :eek:oo:

In that strong fog the MB beam propably only travel couple of hundred meters tops. But thats good sized light saber already and definetly a bright one.

Yes, the ASP Mag is my MiniMaxaBeam. Very impressive!

Actually, in the fog, it's ok for taking pictures, but it's not as much fun to spot things. Visablity is so limited, it really cuts down on the range.

Too cool! Your neighbors must love you!!! :twothumbs

In the last picture the Maxabeam is defocused for a wider beam pattern, which results in a dark spot on the center where no light is being projected. The line in the circle is the shadow from the return wire on the bulb.

It is the same thing that happens with a maglite: if you defocus it, you will get a dark spot in the beam.

You call that foggy, why back in the old days...

Around here we get a dense fog that limits horizontal visibility to a few feet.
Howeveer it is rare more than 10 - 15 feet deep and it's always a surprize to not be able to see the next white line, then look up and see a clear sky.
