Fun with a m*g 85

A guy was quite impressed with his new LED and gave us a sample of its beam. I told him it was impressive but not sure if it was much brighter than a Mag-Light. I was told by him to go get one so I pulled a homely looking m*g 85 with a fresh charge out from under my truck seat and turned it on. The look and the words from the guy was worth it:crackup:

It was one of those black tactical LEDs not too popular arround here.

I got a 1909 bulb on a whim last month and I'm hooked, My mag 85 is now a Mag 09.

Now I have to give my first born to FM so he keeps providing me with bulbs (although I've yet to flash one)

It's outstanding with the same power supply as a Mag 85.

Now I sport an 09 and a 623 at work, both instock looking 3d tubes. I use the 623 mostly on low (with an AW switch) and the 09 mostly on level 2. ( I have one set to spot and the other for flood). Either one will last me all night or several due to the way I use them, frequently but only for a few seconds at a time.

I bet your buddy would have had an accident in his shorts if you had an 09 bulb in there!

These lights are fun and usefull.

By the way my 1909 build is still using eneloops, I keep procrastinating loading the Elites I recently got.

They seem to do OK at 5.5 Amps, but I belive this is probably the practical limit before another type is a better choice due to internal design purposes. My average duty cycle is only 10 to 15 seconds, so there isn't much sag any way you slice it.

Just got my first 1909. Does pretty well on 3x IMR18500. I'm taking my time with this one, so next up, 3x IMR18650 and then 3x IMR26500.
