Well, I've had an interesting thing happen to me lately. After I put another o-ring on my G2, it is really hard to twist the tailcap with one hand. I tried putting different amounts of lube on the orings and threads, but it doesn't help. If this tailcap is shot, would you guys recommend me getting a Z49 or Z58/59. what's the difference between those tailcaps? Would the clickie facilitate easier twisting to lockout?
TIA,

i asked about z48/49 vs z58/59 here. maybe it'll help you too.
though the G2 is not a combatgrip light, so some comments might be less usefull.

@ leukos: yes
@ defusion: I think that tailstanding would be a really cool feature

btw, do you think that upgrading to a z33(right part number?) shock-isolated bezel would be beneficial to my setup? thx

I bought my wife a G2, latest version, lock out tailcap. I put a second O ring on the tail end to make the cap harder to rotate, as I thought it was too free moving as from the factory (my G2Z is the same, but won't accept the second O ring).

Mine was a solution to a specific problem, the light turning on in long term pocket storage, not everyday use. Depending on the age of your G2, the moulding tolerances may be such that the extra O ring is too much for the dimensions you have on your particular G2, and it's too tight for your preference.

I see. When I tried a C3 at a store it seemed not to be as hard to turn as the G2 that I have with the two orings. I think it wouldn't turn on in a pack or bag, but not really sure as I can't do that type of test without buying the light. Just wondering, does the E1L tailcap have the LOTC and clicky feature? if I buy a clicky from SF directly, do those also have the LOTC feature?
Thanks in advance,

The G2 uses smaller o-rings that the regular surefires... The normal surefire o-rings would be too big, resulting in higher turning resistance.

Is it just me that thinks that the solution is clearly taking off the extra o ring?

Do you really need both o rings? Especially given that the problem you are having seems specifically due to the extra o ring?

Well, I added the extra oring specifically to increase the water resistance. If it keeps the same resistance without the extra oring, I might take it off.
Have a good one,

Where possible I had put a 2nd O ring on the tailcap end of my Surefires. I had also noticed with the 2nd Oring, it would be harder to twist the tailcap even on my Z2, 9P, etc.

Believe that a stock 6P with a single O ring @ tailcap can be certify to a depth of 33m. Having 2 O ring does not increase the depth rating, it just enable you to twist the light to on / off underwater, without compromising the seal.
