Gadget question

I have seen this thing on TV that you can place on the wall and it will tell the color of the paint on the wall, or you can take it to the store and buy the color that is on your wall.

Does anyone know what this thing is called? I have search to no avail.:shrug:

Whew, that one is to pricey. The one that I seen on TV looks somewhat different.

Something like that but portable.

It's a new thing I would say that is being pushed to the home audience, just not sure how much it cost. Must see commercial again, dang!

There's a fairly new series of very accurate light sensor ICs that's making it easier and less expensive to design small, handheld light and color measurement devices. Most handheld video cameras incorporate something like this for Automatic White Balance.
