Hi all-

New to the forum and I'll have to honestly say that I never would have guessed that there would be an active "flashlight forum" with so much information on what I am looking for. Kudos.

I've spent an hour on this forum hunting around and reading the FAQ's and searching, but my head is swimming with data. I realize the questions I ask below is probably the equivalent of walking into an automotive forum and asking "which is the best car to buy?" but nonetheless, here' what I'm trying to do:

1) All I want to do is buy a smart charger that will charge NiMH AA, AA, C, D, and 9V rechargeable batteries of miscellaneous brands. I want to spend around 40 bucks or so. I also want it to be able to recondition (I think by discharging?) older NiMH rechargeable cells that I have. From hunting around this forum, I've found this and this that seem to fit the bill. Would you guys recommend one of those or something better? I've read about the Maha 9000 and the LaCrosse BC XXX series, but I need something that will charge other sizes besides just AA and AAA NiMH.

2) I recently read in Consumer Reports that Eneloop batteries are generally the best rechargeable batteries. For my future reference, what brand batteries will provide the best over performance for the charger you hopefully recommend from #1 above?

Thanks for your time!

get yourself one of them MAHA 9000 thingies if you got lots of old cells lying about, the extrey $50 will save you $50 of your TIME trying to figure out which ones are any good or not.

Where the heck did you get 'ADAPT' from?

Until then, I offer:...and hopefully Black Rose will post the LINKs to HIS photos (lovely use of magnets - YES, I'm jealous!) in the morning...

What do you all think of the Maha C808M vs. this ACCUPOWER ACCUMANAGER 20 Multi-Battery Charger, which I found recommended on a different thread. It looks like the Accupower can be had for about $20 to 30 cheaper than the C808M and to this uneducated eye it looks like it does about the same job?

The Maha 9000 won't work for me because I have C's and D's I want to charge.

Thanks!
