Has anyone heard anything about the new Gerber/CMG Trio? I've seen it advertised on the Net, but it isn't on the Gerber website yet, nor does any website I've found have anything other than the standard advertising writeup. It sounds interesting, but I need more information before I commit myself to actually spending money... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If I had a Trio to evaluate, I'd do it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Otherwise, I don't know where you'd find information about this flashlight. It's as new to me as it is to everybody else.

The GERBER STORE advertises the lights. Is that what you mean by Gerber web site?

I don't know if there is much else to say about the light other than what is advertised. 2xAA, electronics and 3 "super-bright" LEDs. It sounds like a low powered Super Xnova that has 8 "super-bright" LEDs.

You are right. There is not much information on the light. But then is there ever all-the-nformation an advertiser gives for any light. Cpf members usually have to be the 'test animals' and figure out what a light really does.

I'd seriously snap on it if it was knruled. It looks like from the pics that it is smooth. But if it uses a clickie then that's another story. The Ultra was too large and smooth for my tastes.

I'll chant "knurled 2-AAA version" for a while. That I would use at work almost as much as my Arc AAA.

Added: What about the Flash Flood light? That looks cool. An upgrade of the 24/7 design with a zip line.

When I said I was looking at the Gerber website, I was looking here:

http://www.gerberblades.com/

Apparently I was looking in the wrong place... I hadn't seen the "Gerber Store" website yet - but I'll go back there, ya betcha!!

Thanks for the info, everyone.
Later, hey...

I received a Gerber Trio about an hour and a half ago; I just now opened the package and I'll be starting a web page for it shortly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ok, I finished up my initial evaluation of the Trio, and posted the URL to its page in my thread in the Reviews forum.
Don't want to post it here, because that would be crossposting - a severe CPF no-no. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nice review, Craig. It's strange that they didn't use 4 LEDs like the Dorcy 2AA 4LED light. Despite that, it's still brighter than the Dorcy.

Nine times out of ten, though, I find myself grabbing my NiMH-powered Streamlight Jr. Luxeon; almost the same size, but MUCH brighter. I favor 5 mm-based lights only when I need the extra runtime, such as during a power outage.

Just got my order of them today for gifts (of course I had to play with one first) Overal Light output seems comparable to inova x5t. Anyway to confirm that Craig?

I have an older model Inova X5 with white LEDs...let me go get that and do this comparison...BRB...

(Edit, a moment later)
With new batteries in both flashlights, they are very close to one another. Visually, I can't tell them apart.

According to my website, the Inova X5 measures 57,500mcd, and the Gerber Trio measures 56,700mcd.

Thanks for the test Craig! I have to say I'm suprised at how much light is coming out of just 3 leds. Gerber did a great job with this light... it's like a AA version of X5.
