Just wanted to know how many CPFers, live in Sussex (East or West) in the UK and might want to arrange a get together. I know there was a London one a little while ago, and wondered if there were enough of us in Sussex to make it worthwhile.
I'll update this post with any interested names and take it from there.

Thanks for expressing interest so far.
I was initially trying to find out who might live close enough to want to come. I didn't want to suggest a time and place until I knew enough people were interested.
A few possible locations I have thought of so far are Devil's Dyke, any of the coast between Ferring beach and Peacehaven that is dark enough and near a pub, and a couple of golf courses I have shooting rights on near Hove.
As for dates, well I wanted to see how long it takes to get a good number of us together and then suggest a date. Realistically I would think late December or early January if people are free.
Let me know what you think?

I might be up for a bit of Sussex magic if the time is right.
I'm London based but spend a lot of time in Sussex - mainly West. But stayed near Lewes last year so familiar with the local area - we took some great pics of a bridge across the river near Southease railway station.

Pretty but miles from any pub.
If our West Sussex meet was anything to go by, CPFers feel the cold, so we need a warm and big fired pub!
BTW - Subwoofer - do you need cigarettes, newspapers, crossword puzzles and fish for your cat?

Nyctophiliac, no one has recognised me before. Thank you for asking but I don't really need anything, although you could sing to The Lord if you like, I think he would enjoy that.
If you come to the get together, will you be coming is six small black shiny ships or a big white one?

Are you going to demonstrate the art of poi (flaming would be good) or do will you be making monkey fist knots?

It may not matter. Perhaps six small black shiny ships can look like one big white one? Who can tell? Who can tell...

I have to be precise, the two photo's were not taken by me but I was illuminating the bridge in the first one and standing keeping my torch-trigger finger still on the second!
The other bits are quotes ( or approximate ) from The Secondary Phase of a famous BBC radio Sci-Fi Comedy from many many years back - Gawd bless Douglas Adams.

Monkey fists are my fav knot, and Lee's good at making them too. He made a load before for the London get together. :twothumbs
TX101 always calls them "monkey balls" and makes me laugh.
I guess I could bring a little paracord, I have a little bit around the house

Sounds like you mostly know each other, and what lights you have. I was wondering if I should ask what lights people would be bringing along. For me all of them will be new and very interesting to see.
I was intending to bring the following:
Fenix LD10 R4
Quark AA Regular R5
SmallSun Aspheric zoom Q5
Ultrafire C3
Mini Maglite with Terralux TLE-20 upgrade
iTP A1
iTP A3
Zebralight H51 v2
MTE SSC-P7
Aurora SH-40 SST-50
Ultrafire UF-H2
Ultrafire UF-H3
Pak-light super
Photon Freedom Micro
Sky-Watcher dual beam astronomy torch
Various Ultrafire WF-501B with Cree R2 and Luxeon K2 Red
A Powerflare
I've also got two items on order, the PALight Selector and nitecore IFD2 which should arrive in time.
Hopefully some of these will be of interest.

Nice lights!
I'll be interested in seeing the Sky watcher most of all - I'll bring along a QTC modded red peak for comparison. I take it you Astronome?
Also I'll bring an array of multi coloured Peaks, Lummi's and ARC's - a Malkoff or two, a Ra, an ARC 6, my trusty Mag D aspheric and if I can find my charger again, my Stanley HID! Not to mention at least 3 double enders! ( Matron!!!)

I could bring some of my old Miners lights......not sure what else I have to bring.

I am a cyclic astronomer. What I mean is that it is one of my interests, but I never have enough time or opportunity so tend to get frustrated, have a burst of astronomical activity and then this wanes for a while until the frustration builds again.
Where did you get the Stanley HID, I was looking for one as they are apparently a good entry level HID, but could not find any listed in the UK?
Not sure they count, but I also have a 5mw and a 18650 powered 50mw green laser which are fun, so they should come out to play as well.

I'm really keen to see if the Surefires live up to their reputation how many have you got?
As for weapon lights, I'm interested........ so far this is about as good as I have managed (though I now have a three way picatinny mounting block instead of the 1-way pictured and often have a white and red light mounted).

Excellent! We could spend the whole evening just looking at Surefires :)
When you got the Surefire catalogue, did you ask for one of everything? (though I didn't see a T1A)
Have you got enough batteries to load them all up at once?
Hang on a minute, do you work for Surefire?

Yes - got plenty enough batteries for all of them, plus about 48 spares!

I remember seeing a London meet but can't remember how many people went in the end.

Gotta admit, you do have an impressive array of Surefires, Meganoggin. Best I can do is three Bona Fide SF lights, some lego - and the newest Surefire Emitter I have is an old Lux III KL3 head!
I'll see if I can get hold of cdosrun, he is East Hampshire rather than Sussex, but it's not too far. Anyone know Hammertrain - he's in Brighton? Or Jarl?
Have to say my attending depends a lot on when this is - the days are closing in before Christmas and the workload is ramping up. Any dates yet?
The Holidays are coming......
So is the Shoe Event Horizon!!!

I would try my best to get to a meet subject to time, date, work, weather etc etc.
I'm in Suffolk but I would probably stay over near the meet anyway as I like a beer :-)

Anyone reading this thread who is not a HHGTTG fan will think we are very strange.
Anyway:
As far as dates go, it is easier for me to be flexible. Is it better for after Christmas for everyone so you can get the present and family things sorted and then go for the first week of January?
Are people happy with one of the suggested locations?

Not sure about 8 Jan; I'll do some checking and post again once I know.
The locations are all close to the Hangleton area of Hove. Put 50.853779,-0.211327 into Google maps to see a road junction I would be directing people to.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend any B&Bs but am getting in touch with a few local pubs to see if they offer accommodation.
