Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has hooked up with one of these ? They seem to be a potent package at this pricepoint(Less than $200 on the net). This reviewer sure liked it.(Scroll down to review) The bulb is supposed to be good for 1500 lumens? 30 minute runtime on rechargeable nimhs, 1.3 million candlepower advertised. LED 'browsing' light. Also has the ability to run directly off a 12v source via cigarette lighter connection.

The reviewer talks about fire fighters using the light, something I noticed on the web sight. I suppose some might in some places but the litebox is very, very, very common on trucks and engines. The golight might be brighter but it will not last 8 hours as the litebox does and we need flood light far more often than spotlight. If I want a spotlight I'll bring my Thor with a bit more power and an hour burn time.
I note their ad for LEDs say their LEDs are among the brightest... I guess they are in the top 5 or so.

I'd just like to say that I can't see this light producing even near 1.3 million CP. It's only a 55watt bulb (Unless it's overdriven to the max)!!!! also, they say a 1500 lumen 55watt bulb. Has anyone EVER heard of a 55watter doing that??? From what I can tell, it's an advertisement for a light that is produced in a country that nobodys ever heard of and made cheaply. Then they go and asking $200 for it...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon6.gif

Mike,

I know Golight represents the Profiler light in a way that suggests it might be used in lieu of a Litebox, but let's face it, everybody tries to tie their lights into the duties performed by LEO's,firefighters, etc in one way or another. How many times a week do you see some light advertised as tactical? Marketing, pure and simple. I'm not saying its right, just that its reality.

It's apparent the two lights aren't meant to perform the same tasks. Their power, weight and runtimes make that clear.

The intent of my original post was to try and separate the fact from the fiction by hopefully gleaning some knowledge from someone who has some experience with the light. I'm not swallowing the hype in their ads and I'm sure you're not either.

BOF,

Why don't you tell us what's really bugging you about this light? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif

Sorry chasm22,

Put simply, I guess I was just in a bad mood and couldn't find a good way to express my anger. So, I took it out on this light which may be better than I assumed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/oops.gif I'll make sure that doesn't happen again.

Sorry to put a damper on this thread. But a 1500 lumen 55watt bulb??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/duh2.gif My 100watt Husky can barely produce that from what I know.

BOF,

Not a problem. As for the lumen rating, here is the only reference I can point you to. Pretty much all the H7 halogen bulbs are rated at 1500 lumens. I saw a website selling replacement bulbs for it and that is how I found out about what bulb it uses. Here it is . 1500 lumens for under 200 bucks might be OK depending on the beam. The weight looks OK.

I don't think I mentioned that I purchased one of Golights' remote control spotlights for my boat. I bought it from Cabela's. The quality is good. You get a lot of features for the money.

BTW, I curious about your comment about the Profiler being made in a country that nobody ever heard of. I couldn't find any reference to where it was made. What country is it made in?

Hey chasm22,

When I said that it was probably made in a country that no one has ever heard of, I was merely suggesting that it may have been made in a far, off the map country by slave workers for no/little pay. It was part of my ranting streak and I wasn't at all being sincere about that comment. Sorry again.

Later,
Baker
