Golston Batteries

Wiz,

I've seen their advert many times whilst looking out for cheap CR123's and I've always come back to the same conclusion that you pay your money and take a chance!
For me the chance of a non-propriety battery being as good as claimed is slim. They may be good but I'm not going to chance one of my very expensive lithium lights on a foreign make I've not heard of!
At the moment the usual supplier on Ebay.co.uk I use hasn't got any CR123A's in stock so I've ordered off 7dayshop which supply well known brand names at a price which I'm comfortable paying. Whilst I'm not plugging 7dayshop they are reliable and bona fide so I'll stick with them for the moment.

Hello Wiz,

You are in luck. I just received a couple of the Golston batteries from Chevrofreak for evaluation and testing.

I'll see if I can get test results up in the battery section thread "123 Shoot Out" before the auction ends.

OK, the test results are up.

Interesting... The Golston cells gave better results at 1 amp then they did at 0.5 amps.

The discharge curve is interesting as well. It should also be noted that at both the 0.5 and 1 amp rates, the cells heated up to 80 degrees F.

I don't know what is going on with them, but there seems to be some higher internal resistance.

Cheers everyone, great advice and information as usual /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
