Hi! It's me again asking for your opinions on the best most economical travel charger! I have the Titanium 2800 which I LOVE, but it doesn't work on 12v. So, I'm on the market again for a charger YAY!

I'd like to limit the cost to the $30's range, and would prefer something small, but would consider larger options if necessary.

Does anyone like the Titanium Universal charger (I believe it's a knockoff of the Vanson BC1HU)? It looks pretty big.

The Maha 401 is nice but too spendy

Looking at the Vanson 30 minute charger at Amondotech seems like it might be just the thing I'm looking for. Anyone like this one? Maybe it's similar to one of SilverFoxes reviewed chargers?

I have a one-piece 12VDC to 110VAC inverter that I paid about 10 bucks for. I think I'd just use that in conjunction with some generic NiMH charger, if I were on the cheap. I use the inverter with cell phone chargers (saves me from needing a separate 12 volt charger for each phone) and with my old Archos mp3 player.

If I weren't on the cheap then I'd go for an Energizer 15 minute charger which comes with an AC and 12V adapter. The very fast charge seems like a good match for vehicular use--who wants to sit in a car for 5 hours to charge some nimh cells? (Or else leave the key in the ignition).

Good point Paulr! I do like the fact that the Energizer is so fast. The manufacturers of the inverters say not to charge batteries on an inverter. I don't know the reasoning. Maybe someone here has an idea on that? I do have a pocket inverter and have plugged my ac charger into and nothing exploded . . . maybe it damages the cells?
