I am looking a decent lantern that runs on 18650 cells... I don't have any specific specs other than good value, neutral/warm tint, and decent CRI (80+).

Awesome... I got the orange lantern with batteries for $60... coming from China, so who knows when it will arrive, but no hurry.

Any good options that run on a single or at most two 18650s? I realize the Sofirn BLF LT1 can run on less but if I recall the manual states it doesn't recommend it cause of voltage issues.

FWIW, Sofirn also has a LT1S that uses 1x21700 (18650 in adapter or supposedly a protected 18650 alone is long enough).

Smooth brightness levels, variable color temperature 2700K-5000K, using 90-80cri Samsung CSP emitters. FWIW, also has red LEDs,

Don't own one but certainly tempting.

Nitecore LR60. Takes 2 21700 or 2 18650. It's 90 cri and 4000-4500k color temperature. Doubles as a powerbank. Costs $45 excluding batteries.

The LT1 can run on four, three, two or even a single 18650 cell on all modes. ( though as expected running on lest cells will shorten the run times consecutively in all output settings. (roughly based on subtracting 25% for each cell also minus about 5% when on a single cell. - DBSARlight
