Hi, I just wanted to know if there are any good flashlight and kind of have the looks and size of the Fenix L1D that works good and is only under $35? And only requires 1 AA battery. Thanks!

How bright do you want it and how long do you want it to run? I like the MTE C2-1 for $20. It runs about an hour, but is too bright for close up work. The Ese AZ2 from shiningbeam is a nice multimode if you don't mind a little extra weight (stainless).

The MTE C2-1 is a very nice light, it is similar in size and feel of a AA fenix. For $35, you could get both the C2-1 and a Romisen RC-G2 and swap tailcaps. This will make the C2-1 a forward clicky and smaller, and you'll have the RC-G2 as a nice backup light for the car or home.

However, I personally think the best ~$35 you could spend for a budget AA light is the Akoray 106 ($20), with a pair of 14500 batteries ($5), and an appropriate charger ($10). The Akoray has 3 programmable modes (the fenix L1D has more modes, but are factory set) and is very nice on the 14500 batteries. But it also works very well on AA if needed.

The RC-G2 cap does work well on the C2-1, but the C2-1 cap will not fit the RC-G2 without machining. (too long)

I just put a thin ring of aluminium foil in the MTE tailcap so it'll make contact with the RC-G2. Mine works fine.

everyone has a different definition of "good" but you might want to look at the Engergizer AA with a cree led ( look for the textured reflector ) there is a pretty long thread on it elsewhere on here. Its a very solid light, good brightness, less than $20 and available at Target.

You might also want to consider an Inova X1, it is also available at Target for $20, and is a great little light. Unlike most other lights in its price range it is made in the US, has a glass window, aluminum reflector, and comes with a lifetime warranty.

While it might not put out quite as much light as some of the others, imho, I think that it has just the right amount of output for general day to day use for most tasks. While I always have a high output light on me, I also always carry something similar to the X1 that gets used much more often.

Go to your nearest costco and get the leatherman tool/ flashlight combo. The light is actually a re branded fenix L1T. They are selling them for $40. If you don't want the tool, sell it for $5 and poof 35 dolla fenix!

I couldnt find this at my costco :-(

1 AA is a too high con, why want one?

* light is considerably bigger than a good EDC light
* no chance for high output and even then
* a joke of a runtime

if it has to be small
--> E01 for runtime,
--> 1*CR123 for power
--> 2*AA (1*18650) for bigger and Power
