Has anyone considered using one of these B&D Versapak metal flashlights eBay as a base for a Luxeon mod? It uses a single 3.6v Versapak battery and appears to be pretty heavy and well made.

Interesting... I wonder if the "versapak" battery is NiMh or NiCad? If it's NiMh it might be worth some serious consideration. Will have to see how much the proprietary charger costs.

I really like the flat discharge rate that I get from my Brink 3AA mods using NiMh's which is also 3.6v). It's almost like a regulated light the way they drive their power then die off so suddenly.

The standard battery is NiCad, but you can purchase "Gold" batteries that are NiMh.

(edit) Looks like Vikas and I are on the same wavelength.

I believe those are NiCad (at least the silver one). B&D Also sells their Gold versapak which might be NiMh. The charger is usually included when you buy the tool.

A better idea would be to get copper tube about 3/4" ID and power direct-drive Luxeon optics
