I did a service call for cash this morning. So while I was out I headed up to Frys.

I debated over several purchases. I looked at a Streamlight 3AA LUX tasklight too. Clearly, if I ever desired to carry one of these lights the Inova wins.

In the flashlight section I only found two XO both black. One had a CLEARLY blueish beam (but was in a package marked white)

I found at least 20 silver XO in the aisle leading to checkout, and that's where the 3AA TL, 3AA TT, 3C TT, 1L TT, and 2D TTs were also.

I won't know anything for sure till after dark. SO far, I'm not terribly impressed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/oops.gif

I'm exremely glad to have an XM3 ordered, and to be high on the list (I HOPE!!!) for a Lambda 3W pill!!! :rocks:

I will probably wish I waited until I could get a T3. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

But for $39.99, if nothing else it will make a good glovebox light, or hanging in a strategic place around the house. I don't see it being in the EDC rotation.

But I'll know more in 7 hours or so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif

What am I supposed to do??"

I'd say you'd better stick with your fellow Texan. That's what I'm doing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It's just about dark enough for my side of the house test.

I think I'll try the XO, my Madmax mini, and maybe a couple incandescent lights for comparison... be right back...

I consider a Pelican MityLite 2AA with Lithium AAs to be a darn good 2AA Incand representative. It and the XO lit up my back fence approx. 50 feet from where I stand about the same (different tint however!).

The Madmax mini does a pretty good job.

My Milkbone (1W LED 2AA Rayovac) did a good job too, and has GREAT spill.

The XO doesn't light up the ground, fence to the left and house to the right much if at all. But it clearly lit up the back fence, and some tree tops. It has a blueish tint, and makes the Pelican look SICKLY yellow.

At this time I don't see EDCing the XO.

I REALLY look forward to the Lambda 3W pill for a mini!

And the XM3 (with reflector) just might be the perfect light. We'll see when it comes.

The XO went up a few notches now that it's dark, but it doesn't blow me away like a hoped.

And you betcha I'm gonna stick with GW... look at the alternative!

I hope my sig makes at least a couple people see the light!

Oh. I heard today that the Libertarian Party has open borders view. That is the main thing I distrust GW to do anything about. But I can no longer CALL myself a Libertarian... though I do agree with a LOT of their platform. Guess I'd better modify my sig...

PJS, I also got an XO a few months ago. I need more spill light than the XO, although it has good throw for a 1 watt. I tried WriteRight and it got rid of the rings, then I tried 2 layers of WhiteRight, I think that improved the beam, and it still has pretty good throw. Give it a try, maybe the XO will be useful.

Hi!

I also recently got an XO. I think it´s an amazing flash light. The light is white, but on my Inova X5 which was supporsed to be white,it was clearly blue.Has anyone got an Inova with poor original batteries? I have. Both my X5 and my XO had poor original batteries.

What is WhiteRight? Can you tell me a little more about it and how you used it to reduce the XO´s rings?

I could learn to live with the lack of spill.

I tried a piece of Scotch Satin tape, and it softens the edge of the beam nicely. It does not however add any appreciable spill.

I would like it best with a clickie switch. I just don't like "Tactical" switching. Krolls at the a$$ end of a light are peachy keen!

Only other major nit I have with it, it doesn't stand upright on the head very well. UH, it does stand, but can be knocked over VERY easy when reaching for it.

I could have spent a stupider $40...

NorthernStar, WriteRight is a protective film made by Fellowes to cover PDA screens. It has a slight texture that will smooth out flashlight beams. You need the kind made for monochrome displays.

You can do a search, there are quite a few posts about WriteRight.

chumley,
thank´s for your reply. I will do a search and see if there is something similar to buy here in Sweden where i live.

BillBill,

I don't feel too bad about spending $40 on it.

In hindsight, getting the SL 3AA Task Light MAY have suited me better....

However I definetly have an XM3 coming someday. And I'm almost sure I'm going to get a Lambda 3W Pill for a minim*g.

So I ain't doing any more LUX shopping until those items come.

The XO has it's place. I'm just trying to figure out how it fits in MY life....
