GOT MY 200MW DX GREENIE

Just grabbed some some real batts.
Going to test it now on dog walk at midnight.

This thing eats batts.Like 5 mins or so.
I can see the beam day or night.It does burn for sure.
What I dont get is : it seems that power varies alot.1 time I click it on and it may be say 100mw..the next time 200.Also this thing acts like it made with tubes and not solid state..it seems to need a warm up.

I had an old slick ( race tire) and it got all melty from the beam fast.

It is 1 pm now and bright out.I can still see the beam in bright summer sun.Sadly I am already bored with this thing :sick2:


Quality is decent..as far as fit and finish and such.

Would you recommend it? Why are you so bored of it, do you wish you didn't buy it?

I'm trying to figure out if I want one enough to pay $120 bucks for it...DE is sold out now however.

Does this thing pop balloons, light matches, or burn skin? If it does burn skin, how close do you need to be and how bad is the burn/sting?

Im no laser fanatic to be honest.I got it because of all the buzz in this area of CPF.After 5 mins or so of a useless green beam I can see at day or night..im bored.

Cuts for sure with real batts.Burns skin. Did not try pop stuff.It did not kill a squirrel from 50' though.May have blinded the sucker though.

As far as bored : MY flashlights I actually use daily.I have no use for this thing I guess.
It was gee wizz..ooo ahhh fun and cool for me for 5.I will file it away till they are banned. Then Ebay it for 1000 bucks :thumbsup:

Yeah I really wanna get one but I'm also afraid of the bored factor. I know it'll be fun at first, but then I'll never use it again. My idea was I'd carry it with me for the one opportunity where I can use it to pop some kids balloon, but I doubt it will do it from far away if it does it at all.

Whats the skin burning distance on this thing? How far away do you have to be for someone to say "OUCH!" if there is much of an ouch at all rather than a tickle?

One last thing, when did you order yours? DX is out of stock and everyone says it takes them months to get them, then more months to ship them. So I'm kind of cautious about that right now.

I felt the exact same way towards mine. I bought a 30mw from DX and while it was super cool for all of 5 minutes I got very bored with it soon after. Like you I have no real use for it other than to play with it in the night sky.
I gave it to my brother who liked it far more than I did after a week of owning it.

I've been out of the loop here at CPF for quite some time, but this DX 200Mw intrigues me, especially at the price of $120. For the price it might be worth the long wait...anyone got a link?
