Re: Got my LSH-P and not impressed !
jtivat -- I hope your exchange comes back perfect! I just got my LSH-P today. Its beam is exactly like this_is_nascar's lovely pic.
My only other fancy flashlight is a Surefire 8nx. That's rated at about 110 lumens, and this Arc seems to be easily 20% of that brightness, with a wonderful beam too. For those who are reading this thread and don't yet have an LED light, see fc/fire-rescue's pic comparing this Arc to a AA-M@g-Lite. That instantly sold me on getting this thing and my comparison today is exactly the same as what his picture shows. The beam on that other light and its brightness and color looks really awful, especially in direct comparison with the Arc. For me, this light really is worth its price.
Also -- All other aspects of the light I got are absolutely flawless:
HA - Dark and perfectly matched. It's absolutely beautiful. Under extremely finicky purvue, there are two very small and slight places where the HA isn't dark. They're just where the lens meets the inside of the bezel and directly oppose each other across the diameter. My guess is this is where the bezel was held or where the electrodes came inside to contact for the anodizing. Very thin and small things indeed, looking more like nicks than anything noticeable. (Note it appears that a redesign has replaced the screw-down bezel with a neat screw-in core that screws in from the battery compartment with a 2-post pin spanner)
Tailswitch - Just the right balance for my taste of firmness required to turn it on, plus just the right amount of travel required after initial turn-on to the point where it clicks to stay on permanently. My rubber cover is perfectly fitted into its place, showing none of the loosening at its base that others have noted.
The O-ring is very snug; Unscrewing the bezel from the tailswitch takes a good amount of torque.
Knurling - perfectly executed and matched dimensions on tail and head. I personally prefer a much more agressive knurl with protruding pokey tips of the aluminum to grab onto, but this is probably more marketable and friendly to pocket fabric.
And no evidence of "farkle", whatever that black goo is that was showing up on some LED's or their surrounds.
Bravo Peter Gransee!!!
jtivat I hope your exchange is perfect too!!!
