Got my SL 3AA Luxeon this evening!

I received my Streamlight 3AA lux today. I am very satisfied with the light. I'm no expert on luxeons, but this light is nice. I 've read a post by Rob_K and the one he received had a very green tint to it. I was hoping I wouldn't end up with the same tint. Sorry I can't post any pics, but I am really satisfied with my SL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

but it's pretty white? do you have any other ls lights to compare it to?

Mine is quite acceptable, but I would pay a premium for a very high bin Lux.

The more I use it, you don't notice the slightly green corona.

I actually like a greenish tint, thats why I like the Arc AAA LE kind of cool. My LSH-P is very white though which is great for the amount of money I paid for it. I wouldn't expect the same from a less expensive light. I guess the question should really be how does it compare to the Surefire L1 or the E2E and KL1 or the BB and MM mods?

TSG68- You asked about further comments about my 3AA SL Lux. Nothing to brag about, but feel I am relatively lucky not to have received a sickly green one. I am most happy with the basic form/function/ finish of the SL TT's. Sure, I would KILL for a 3 bin color, super flux, but we ain't going to get it untill manufacturing techniques mature in this field.

This is my first one watt Lux, I am happy with the very DEEP reflector of the 3 AA. It seems to capture, and focus the light from the LED well (have looked at a lot of beam shots). Love the run time. It's not as bright as the Xenon from the 3AA TT, but close enough that I'm taking it for beach walking in Hilton Head next week.

From reviewing the forum, I have not seen ANY consistency in Luxeon flux/color/etc., from any manufacturer, other than perhaps the ARC hand picked stuff ( a few others). The makers are of course, not too interested in discarding 90% of their production.

It will be interesting seeing this field mature with 60-70-80 Lumens per watt with the same or nearly so current draw. It will happen................

Yeah you're right John, I have already heard about some improvements in manufacturing luxeons are evolving. Won't be too much longer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well heck!, i might just have to take a little trip to Hilton Head next week and look for someone on the beach with a Luxeon led flashlight(you) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Im curious to see the output of it myself, but you know Im joking, or am I????

Noooooo, my wife would kill me if I wanted to drive an hour or two just to see a flashlight!

Sure quickbeam, beam comparisons might be good considering one uses a reflector and one and optic. They probably both use similarly ranked luxeons, huh?

Don't know about the rank, but for the beamshots, I'll take some tonight when it gets dark. I just have to get pictures of the retail packaging for the reviews first. I'll have them up tomorrow morning. Working on the 1L review right now.

Can't get any work done; playing with these durn lights; Hmm, compare the 3 LED to CMG Ultra; 1L to 2L, hmmm.

One thing I didn't expect is the size! Its almost like a mini baton, haha. Fit and Finish is great too!
