I picked up a brass 1 led pocket body mckinley with red led at standard power and also a HA matterhorn lug style with standard power red led. I took a dremel bit and with just my hand sanded the leds to smooth out the artifacts.

Interestingly I thought maybe the Mckinley would run just a bit further on a dying cell than an Inova X5 red, but nope. But I really like the brass.

I wonder if Peak makes the body tube that connects two 123a lights in brass? Galiphrey I think posted his example in HA. I will have to call soon.

Anyway, here are some pics.

I always liked the Peak brass lights. The Matterhorn was my EDC until I lost it. Strong, dependable and different body types.

For a while it seemed like they were putting out more types of small lights by themselves than all other manufactures combined. Not much new for quite a while. The web site is horrible.

If they ever make variable power lights I will be buying some more from them.

dd61999 -The lug is at 2.75 inches

83Venture - I agree if they made some two mode lights that would be very nice. This is why I like the idea of that cr123a body tube which you can put a head on each end. But who knew they had such a thing? I never would've known had i not seen a pic posted here.

Thanks for the info NutSAK!! I'll definitely be ordering one of those at some point.

The new Peak First Responder is a 3-LED variable power light. It surprises me how little discussion there is about this light. Reading the specs it seems fantastic. Nine battery options, variable brightness, rugged & reliable [like all Peaks I've seen], very bright at the highest setting. There have been a few reviews, but not much discussion about it...

The responder is a fairly expensive and large duty light. I meant something in the Matterhorn, LF2 size/price range. Thought I saw a thread about the responer a few months ago?

I agree ther First Responder does have a lack of buzz attached to it. I checked out the thread here on it from time to time. One day, someone in led forum just posted some beamshots of it with some other lights. Whered that come from? At least it got a beamshot though as some lights like the ASP triad never got much buzz either. The cost of the lights, availability, and brand name have a lot to do with it I guess. And I know its been said a hundred times, but Peaks website does not help. lol
