Got this cheap led torch with big head as I wanted. Want to turn it into Lm beast with 3-5 leds. Need at least 30m throw, would like around 1.5h runtime. Will be used for hunting at night in forest, so wide beam needed.

Which leds to use? Bridgelux multidie maybe?
Where to get driver for them? Somebody can make custom one?
Where to get reflector for them? Custom made? Where?

Pics of torch(has 2 mode switch, low and high):

Thanks,

not enough room inside head to mount thermal/mounting plate, led and reflectors/optics.
Even if it were: VERY difficult mod, no entry stage, like simple emitter swap.

my opinion: get a Fenix LD20, a Quark AA², something similar in 2*AA instead, because those are not only brutally smaller than that showerhead junk, they also are brutally brighter.

PS: if You need real brightness:
Jetbeam M1X (imho better battery choice), or
Fenix TK40,

PS, if You want to try:
good quality parts: Sandwich shoppe, cutter
cheapo starting: dealextreme, kaidomain, ...

say isn't that the same light a forum member uses to make the DEFT, a CRAZY asperic mod?

The DEFT flashlight had one LED, not a bunch of them like this light has. Here is the DEFT:

By the way, that has to be the most amount of LEDs I've ever seen in a regular production (not a one-off or a prototype) flashlight.

Edit:

After looking at the photos again of the DEFT compared to this "cheap LED torch with a big head"...hmmmmm...the flashlight bodies and heads sure look nearly identical to my eyes. The only difference that I can see is the carbon fiber crenellated bezel on the DEFT...which is only glued on to the regular head.

...makes me wonder.

Luckily yes, that my torch :) But I had no case, no accessories etc. Cheap chinese torch.

Looks like Ultrafire WF-1300L is what I want, will have nice xmas present for myself :D

You should really consider an incan light for forest use. Take an LED light along compare them then tell me what you think.

Cheers.

when its that showerhead, that is used as a "led light to compare",
even every led guy will tell to "use an incan in the woods"
;)

PS: doh, I count 109 5mm led,
if that thing is driven at spec (of 20 mA per led),
or if it sees more power per led (what is common with these),
a P7/MC-E could be powered at FULL OUTPUT
