Green is used in conjunction with night vision technology, but red is better for preserving human night-adapted vision. I'm pretty sure that green LEDs have more lumens/watt than other colors, since that wavelength is where human vision has the highest sensitivity, and because green LEDs are a more mature technology than blue or white.
However, the whole point of the LEDs in the A2 is to provide a low-power alternative to the incandescent beam when you don't need much light. Getting the maximum lumens isn't too important here. I would lean towards white because of the versatility you gain.
