I have a display unit in my lounge fitted with two fluorescent GX53 lamps ... One of them started to flicker so I decided to go for GX53 LED replacements.

I put them in and my Wife immediately noticed that both new lamps were humming quite loudly ... The original fluorescent ones were absolutely silent.

I tried putting pressure on the lamps and on the lampholder and on the wooden panel , but the hum stayed constant ... Both lamps were buzzing.

The seller has agreed to exchange them for the original type fortunately.

I have torches that are multi-LED including a 36 LED dropin for my old 2C Maglite ... None of these are noisy ... I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this problem on a 240V LED lamp.

I now have the two new fluorescent GX53 lamps but they will not work in the "Old Charm" cabinet , but the originals work even though one still flickers.

The new replacement GX53's flick on then go off ... They are the same compact fluorescent lamps as the old ones this time ... I can't understand how they don't come on ... The LED ones came on OK though they did make a hum and the original ones came on OK.

The cabinet has a touch-switch and this worked OK on the other lamps ... Basically the 240V comes into the electronic switch and then goes to the two light fittings ... There is a capacitance touch-switch wired from a hinge to the electronic switch ... You touch the hinge and the light comes on ... I might have to remove the touch-switch facility and wire the two GX53 holders direct to the mains supply ... If there is a problem with this system , it really should be the manufacturers that should rectify it ... Old Charm is a reputable manufacturer.

I will contact the retailer after the Bank Holiday to see what they can do ... They will no doubt contact "Old Charm" about the problem.

Has anyone here had a similar problem with a touch-switch system ?
