Hacking up a camcorder charger?

I need to be able to charge 4 NiMh AA batteries in series. Since this isn't the best option, there aren't any smart chargers that will do this...although that is what I really want. I was thinking of buying a universal camcorder battery charger, like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2933163143&category=22788. Do you think if I just soldered some wires to the + and - and attached those to my batteries it would work to charge them?

if you want something really useful go for a maha 777+2
