Anyone ever used a Halcyon light? They are a SCUBA equipment company that also makes HID lights. They also have a 3C cell backup light. Supposedly they are incredibly tough.
The thing that worries me about using diving lights as regular flashlights is, I suspect that the diving lights were designed to be under water and use the water as a heat sink! Diving lights may have a real short lifespan out of water.
That is true for most of them Roy. I've never used them myself but encountered divers on a night dive and one of them was using something very similar. They really are incredibly bright! Many companies actually make them. These 2 are pretty popular:
