I recently found out that the SDU 5/E marker distress light was used as an IR beacon in Blackhawk Down and was also used in the Bourne Identity.

You see lots of Powerbooks in movies /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Not so many Saabs though (Except in Oceans 11, red 9-5 Wagon!) maybe if I drove a Bimer..

Ohh, that's right, electronics...

Yep, a Commodore Vic-20 like one I used to own shows up in Police Academy 2. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

UK readers will probably remember Blakes 7 .... well a small plastic fuse tester was used by Avon as a remote control detonator for some bombs.

I was very careful using it afterwards!

Apple ][ computers were in some, but can't remember a specific one at the moment.

OBTW, there have been *lots* and *lots* of Sony TVs on movies. Probably in part because they own some of the movie industry.

I'm sure an Ipod must have been in a few movies, I saw one in Italian Job afaik

Ok I don't own them, but I once saw these being used on a TV show. No, not as speakers--they were 'motion capture devices.' For virtual reality.

The 'speakers' oops, 'motion capture devices' were used because I guess they looked better on TV than the real thing.

I've seen some Amigas in movies, but I can't remember what. Do flashlights count? I can't really think of anything. The only reason that I even remembered the Amiga was that someone else mentioned it.
The distress light mentioned, the SDU/5E. Do you have a pic? I can't remember what they used in Blachhawk Down, but I didn't remember thinking that it wasn't the issued IR light. Just curious too if you have the old one with the stupid, nearly impossible to get battery or the newer ones that use AA's.

You bet flashlights count. About the SDU5E, I've got the one that takes lithium batteries. I'm out of town right now, but I'll try to take a few pics and post them when I get back.

What about TV? A couple of homemade lights of mine will likely be seen on a National Geographic show that should air this Fall. This past month I have been involved in filming an episode of a 12 show NG series, "Expeditions to the Edge", in which I am playing myself. The episode involves a caving trip turned bad with lots of carnage. During the filming I was using a light that I built in 1991 that is *still* my primary caving light. Also on my helmet is a later homebuilt LED light.

The good ol' Commodore 64 (my first comp) has been used a lot. I seem to remember that it's been used in Rambo: First Blood Part II in the command post, together with a goofy extra stroking 1 key per 2 seconds, while the screen shows a program running in an endless loop...

Flashlights and TV: I noticed that the Inova X5 has been used quite a bit on CSI. But what really cracked me up: I watched the extras on the season 3 DVDs yesterday. The technical advisor (real life CSI) presenting forensic tools explains that a flashlight is a very important tool ... and pulls out an Inova X5 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif!

Well if flashlights count the you can add in the SureFires, the Magcharger, Minimags, and the D cell I used to have. I haven't noticed any MP3 player brands or types, or if any power inverters have been used, nor any multimeters.

I saw my Lumenox US Air Force Stealth Pilot watch in the movie Tears of The Sun. It was being worn by Tom Skerit while on an aircraft carrier. While Bruce Willis was wearing what looked like my Casio G-Shock. All I could think was...damn right that stuff works!

Hmm, I'll have to think.

Mac Plus used in Star Trek IV, when they went back to 1986.
PowerBook 1400 as used in Independanc Day and Mission: Impossible
Jerry Seinfeld had a PowerBook Duo for a while
Some Ed McBain detective movie where I think I saw those short-lived Streamlight D-cell flashlights.
Sony TVs and monitors were all over that Brad Pitt movie (Snatch?).
Goldeneye was swamped with over-logo'd IBM hardware

I don't have these, but John's ATM cracker in Terminator 2 was an Atari Portfolio, and the "Thinking Machines supercomputers" in Jurrasic Park are actually Mac Quadra 700s.

I had a Texes Instrument "Speak and Spell" toy computer when I was little; I remembered it was used in the movie E.T.

I think Nintendos and Gameboys also pop up here and there as well.

Then, there's also the Talkboy Recorder I remember from Home Alone II
