Hello,

Will someone enlighten me on how HDS and Novatac are connected if at all?

Although I use lights everday, I am clueless when I browse this forum. I recently ordered a E1B and 120T and I am just looking for some history on Novatac.

I have tried using the search engine on this forum, but it is not working for me for some reason. It keeps timing out...

Maybe even some history on Novatac. I have read that their lights were developed for law enforcement/EMS etc...

Links to other threads will be great.

Thanks,

Rick

HDS made the first EDC series lights, the 42, 60, etc. Henry of HDS worked out a deal with Novatac and Novatac began producing the EDC 85 and 120. Recently, however, there was some disagreement of some sort (unsure on the details) and Henry split from Novatac completely and started Ra lights. Ra is producing what most of us know as the HDS Twisty. That's all I know without spreading wild rumors.

That's about it in a nut shell. And for the love of god let's try and keep this thread on track:D

Its irrelevant if they are connected or not, both companies make awesome lights, period...thats all I need to know.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I noticed the similarities in the HDS EDC and the Novatac EDC. That helps to explain why they are similar.

I wasn't planning on getting into flashlights, but now I'm thinking that the HDS Twisty is a must have.

Liteflux? Haven't heard of them. I will have to search on them. How about ARC? I saw one of their older lights today that also resembles the HDS and Novatac. All I see from them now is the aaa series. I feel like I am way late in the game. I liked the ARC I saw with the trits built into it. Very cool!

Henry of HDS was also involved with production of the Arc flashlights IIRC although I'm a bit fuzzy on the details at the moment. Anything Henry has been related with has been a great flashlight.

Thanks for the enlightenment! Slowly I'm putting these lights together.

There's a lot of history in LED light development on the board for those with the patience to dig it out. Henry was the EE behind the Arc 4, split to do the HDS series, got in bed with Novatac, and then out. He's also good at breaking into rental cars after the renter idiot locked his keys in the trunk! :D

There are a half dozen doubleE's who have left some big footprints on CPF, and he's (IMO) one of them!
