Hello everyone, first post here and I need some help with a little project I have been thinking of taking on for a while now, a flashlight the same size as a standard 3D cell maglite, that uses a standard car headlight as a bulb.
I am mainly doing this as a project for my university portfolio, but I'm doing it for originality and function, not looks.
I have several things I need to work on before I even start though, and i was hoping people here could help me sort them out!
1) power source- Most important issue, I need a 12 volt source, preferably a rechargeable battery, that can give decent run time, but still fit in the hand comfortably. so anyone that can tell me where i could get something to that effect, or how one could be made, any help appreciated!
2) heat- I'm sure there has to be considerations for heat, please post any concerns/ideas you may have, since I am not even sure where to start on this issue.
3) light spread- I was looking to use a modified car part for that, but if anyone had a simpler idea that could also withstand the heat then I would like to hear what you have to say, since I am not sure about the possibility of modifying/obtaining the car part.
4) modification of a stock flashlight- second most important to power source, would something like this have potential of fitting in a standard 3D cell maglite or other relatively inexpensive flashlight? or would this be asking too much of the original design features?
Thanks to everyone in advance for your help, I look forward to trying this project with your guidance!
Remember, I am open to ANY comments, ideas, criticism, please hold nothing back and tell me what you feel about this project. I promise to take every opinion to heart.
