Thanks, I don't either. Could there be any difference in the diodes? Or does one or two companies make them all?

The prices are horrible, And in the second image the "case" pictured with the pointer looks like the standard leadlight one...

You can get a 5mW 532nM off ebay for $70 shipped, and a 5mW 635nM for $25 from abeland1.com .

I personally dont see a problem having 2 different pointers for 2 different purposes. I think its akin to the "multifunction device craze" of the late 90's.

I remember the combonation phone pda calculator laser pointer swiss army knife toaster rolling pin kitchen sink devices put out by sanyo, dont you? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Spec,
Yes I remember. I agree with your thinking, but since it is for my son, and he has selected some options, I want to get one of them unless I can find a better one or equal at less expense. I bought him a red one the other day as part of his Christmas presents.

FWIW since he was a small child he would select something he wanted, and it was that or nothing. He is 43 now and has not changed. He is an EE for Northrop Grumman. So for Christmas....

But I wonder if there is really any difference in the three. If I could determine the make I could shop. I don't know if they are all probably made by the same outfit or not.

So you see, I am just thrashing around trying to find out some things about them, and time is running out.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jerry
