Help: MagCharger Measurement Needed

Hi,

Can someone with a MagCharger please measure the diameter (in mm) of the plastic pin receiver area on the bulb pedestal please? I'd do it myself but my torch is in the shop for service.

I need this to determine if some precut mica discs will fit as thermal shields. If you provide me with this measurement, I will send you a disc to review and comment on...if you use a high wattage aftermarket bulb like the WA01160, WA01111 or the like. Preferably 20W and above.

So the plastic face that is visible is 8mm in diameter? That's just double the spacing of the pins.

yep thats right; the black plastic part that can partially retract without taking in account the metallic part outside of its radius is exactly 8mm in diameter...
BTW, good idea for the heat shielding disc; I was affraid to use my MC for long periods of time since it was upgraded. This trick could make me use it more often if it works well.

Yup...the W/A bulb melts the bulb/pin base...On both of my Magchargers, one old (very old) and a newer one. Spacers sound interesting, but if they're too thick, wouldn't that mess-up the focusing of the bulb in relation to the reflector?

I've found a source for research grade mica that can be shaved into very thin sheets. I am also planning on drilling out holes to accomodate the pins and the "bulb tail". It should not compromise focusing at all. There is a reasonable amount of play if you take into account the plunger travel and the cam travel. I think it would work fine.
