I'm looking for a bike light helmet/bar mount. Looking to spend under $50 If there is a better deal out there let me know or help me decide between the two here. I noticed they are both ssc p-7 they look exactly the same on the outside but I'm sure there's probably more to it than that. I'm looking at these 2 lights they have different bins.

2ND Question. Is there a brighter light than a p-7 in a semi compact single 18650?

I think any of those could do well. just study the reviews. I picked this one mostly because of the beam pattern but other reasons as well.

MTE "P7-D" SSC P7-C 5-Mode Memory 900-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*18650)

I like it very much... have it mounted on my bars.

I do not think there are any brighter single emitters out there yet and some seem to regulated or powered at different levels, and I can't advise on bins yet as i am still learning:naughty:

Sorry for posting links I didn't realize that type of thing is not allowed.

I looked at those two lights a bit more and I'm still on the fence. 1 mode seems more practical for me. If I use my light it's only because I need to see so I wouldn't want anything less than full power. On the other hand when we do downhill an extremely bright light turns kicked up dust into a wall of blindness. Kinda like driving in fog with your highbeams on. Would this 3 mode light even get dim enough? Or is this effect caused by the light being mounted on my helmet instead of my bars?

BTW Thanks for the Input Scoot I appreciate it. Chime in again if you have any ideas.

Well my experience is extremely limited about lights and have only attempted a bar mount thus far. I went for the 3 mode MTE because of the apparent versatility for many other uses. The low mode seems to be just perfect for when you don't want to blind anyone around you... like around the picnic table, and for reading. I can't say at this point how low mode may work for actual riding situations, as I have only used the high mode for that. This light always turns on in medium mode and you have to cycle it to the mode you want, which I think could be very annoying to many if done while riding. Plus the switch might be a little flaky, but I can live with it so far. it's my first light and as time goes on I will probably carefully seek out a better one when I learn more. I have read that this one could be a very suitable "host" for the many of the nifty mods that going on out here. Of course I have read that about many of them including the ones you are looking at. What a fun forum!!! good luck with your decision process.

BTW I would be happy to answer any more questions about this MTE if you have any.:)
