Obviously a decent light meter is necessary, and there are posts about that. What I haven't found is how to do those nice runtime tests, with the graphs.

I'm guessing it's some sort of advanced light meter with data recording? or maybe a DMM with data recording?

Anyone of you great reviewers care to share your knowlege? I'm asking about equipment and procedures.

Perhaps one of you reviewers can go through a review routine, and show us the equipment and setup 'behind the scenes'?

I'm familiar with the basics of electricity, weaker on electronics...

I.M.O. it helps if your have several lights to test at once.

Personally I find if people only have one light..they review it as the greatist light on planet earth..only because they have nothing to compare it to.

I'm not sure if some of the reviewers use a graphing program, or if they draw the graphs in a graphic program, but you don't need anything fancy to get the #'s, just a lux meter and a stop watch, or clock. Just write down the readings every minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or however often you want, and when you're done you can translate that data into a line graph.
