I recently got my order of parts for a light build that I'm going to do. I've done some wiring and soldering before, but I just want to be sure I have everything right because I have read some stories about reversed polarity really screwing things up.
How do I know which connection on the star is positive and which is negative?
Also, is that a small drop of flux I see on the solder connections on the star? I was wondering whether or not I needed to flux.
The lights are XP-G 3Ups and the drivers are 1000mA Buckpucks with wired potentiometers.
On my Buckuck, it is labeled so I assume everything is correct. It says LED+ (white), LED- (blue), The pots are already wired to the yellow and gray wires, and the other two are VIN+ (red) and VIN- (black).
I would assume VIN+ and - are the battery wires? Is this correct? What does VIN stand for?
The last thing is that I need a switch. I'm not sure where the switch needs to be wired in. I would assume the negative side of the power supply (VIN-). Is that correct?
Here is a picture of some of the supplies. I will only use one of the stars for the housing pictured. The other two and their Buckpucks will be for a different light.
