I was torturing myself to envision the perfect little light and this idea came to me and want to share it with you, want to know if I´m not trying to invent the wheel. here goes :

A streamlight scorpion or sure fire 6P with 4 leds around the reflector´s border at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees, well aligned with eternalight´s circuitry wraped around the inside of the bezel between the reflector and the case, the switch haven´t figured out yet need more brainstorming, but must be water tight(Accepting ideas), that way I could have the best of both worlds, a powerful Xenon Lamp and a long lasting bright led to use according to the task at hand.

Well that´s the idea, maybe lightpath could pull this off, but I think I couldn´t afford it, any thoughts ? or I´m just plain nuts :-)

Like to hear from you

Thnx

I really like the idea, the closest thing I know of is a Streamlight Syclone. It uses 4 AA's and has a nice bright white lamp and a second amber LED. If only it were a white LED and the whole light much smaller. It is the first light I grab if the power goes out. It runs forever on the single LED with 4 AA's and if you need to see anything you can switch over to the white light.

Yes, even a P60, with a second single white LED would be the coolest light, and again yes, waterproof would be great!

If **EVERYONE** Emails SureFire, do ya think we can get them to make a LED Lamp Module for the E1, E2 and M2/C2/D2/G2/Z2(?)/6P/6Z etc etc (did I miss any this time?)

I think it's worth a shot don't you guys?

I'm sure Mr Ken J. Good once wrote that SureFire maybe doing something along these lines.

Time to let SureFire know what we want?!

Not a bad idea.

I would pay extra for titanium, monel, etc and most definitely eternalight power managment.

What better alpha/beta test site...

How temperature resistant are LEDs? Would the heat from a Scorpion's bulb melt the resin or do bad things to the chip?

I have been super busy at work and have not had time to catch up until now... I sure missed a lot!

Brock - I have a Syclone and did change out the amber LED with a 5600mcd white. It actually does a really good job and was very easy to do. I use this as my secondary headlamp for mountain rescue use. My primary headlamp is the Petzl Tikka now. I gave up on modifying my home built headlamp with two banks of two LEDs for the super small Tikka.
