Hy Guys In England We Have A Problem With Technology .
We Get It Too Late .
I brought 6 mths ago Uk Kintics Light Cannnon 100 Hid .
Not for diving But For The simple fact You never see any body selling HID Products in The Uk . Infact If You Ask Most People About Hid Even In Electrical Shops They Ask Me all The Questions?????
So Anyway I Brought This on A Whim And Its A Lovelly Lamp But its Not Bright Enough or have Enough Throw Out Of The Water . for My Applications .
I cant Seem To Find a Brighter Lamp / Bulb For It Anywhere And I Don't Want To Ruin The light for nothing.
So question 1 Do you guys no where i can get a brighter bulb from ??
Or Would I Be Better off Buying One Of These ?????

I know There Not The Best Lights Around But atleast This Would Give me More Power & Maybe More Throw .

What do you guys reckon sell my light cannon and buy one of these ???

Many Thanks

I bought one of these torches recently and my initial impressions are quite good. First though I phoned HIDS Direct to ask a few questions, I wanted to know the price of a new battery pack (£30 ) A new bulb (£50 because it comes with the ballast) and why the warranty is only 90 days ( that apparently is normal with this type of product? The lady who answered the phone said that if they go wrong it is usually well within 90 days- probably true).Of course UK remote sales and guarantee legislation also covers the last point. The torch arrived a day after ordering and was well packaged, it contained all the equipment specified in the ad.The beam is impressive although there seems little difference between the 35w and 25w settings. It seems well made and solid and I have run it continuously for 20 mins without any diminution of the output, it gets warm and the glass gets hot.The torch is made in China of course. HIDS Direct are based near Manchester, supply their address on the packaging and answer their phone promptly. Hope this is helpful.

Wow Thanks Cloggy , That is just the sought of information i was after .
Also would you mind telling me roughly what sort of throw the beams got ie: metres or Yards roughly .

Many Thanks

There is no other bulb available for your light cannon. The ballast is matched to the bulb wattage so that's what you're stuck with.

The 35W hid that you linked will perform astonishingly better with regards to sheer output, about 6x as bright and with better color temperature.

+1 to what Patriot stated; the 35W HID you posted a link to will definitely be many times brighter than the UK Light Cannon, and would be a huge step up in performance. :)

There are also some larger and even more powerful HID lights that you could consider. Do you have a size limit? Runtime requirement? Price range?

The other HID lights I would recommend for you would be the SunForce 25 Million Candlepower, N30, L35 and Titanium Mega Illuminator, which are all 35W HID lights (with the exception of the N30, which is 30W) and are likely to outperform that light you linked to because of their larger reflector size. However, the only one of those that is immediately available is the SunForce, which is a rather large HID spotlight with a throw of about 1000 yards. There are some other smaller HID lights as well which Patriot and others might be able to recommend for you once we know your requirements.

I can't remember why the N30 is considered 30W because I believe it's overdriven to 35W. It registers the same lux as my other "35W" lights and although I don't have a L35 to compare it to, most who do claimed that the N30 was as bright or slightly brighter. Personally, if the L35 is considered a 35W light then the N30 ought to get a name change to N35. :)

Patriot, that is really great to know about the N30! Thanks for posting about it. Even though I have owned it a long time, I am still very impressed by how powerful it is. :)

My brother is the owner of my old N30 now but it's still in the family. Like you said, it's still an impressive light.

OK now that the rain has stopped I have been out with my HIDS torch.
At the back of my house are two fields backed by a line of trees. The trees are approximately half a mile away and the beam lights the trees sufficiently to distinguish branches. I read somewhere that this torch is supposed to reach about a kilometre and have no reason to doubt this.Incidently this torch is available on ebay from a number of suppliers and a few of them are offered for sale in US dollars, the price is actually more in dollars than in pounds- very unusual!

Thanks Again For Your Sugestions Gents .

I have ordered the one i gave a link too .

Should Be Here Today I ordedred it Beacause Its Uk Based & 24 hr Delivery .

I sent off for a fenix tk40 and i'm still patiently waiting for that to be Delivered From Honkong .

:whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Patience Is A Virtue !!!!!!!!

I will Give A Review When It turns Up !!!

Once Again Many Thanks .lozninja

You'll probably be a bit unimpressed with the TK40 after playing with your new HID but it's a far better task light and a nice compliment to the other. Give us your impressions when it arrives.
