I am very interested in buying a HID loght, but it seems that almost no HIDs are sold in Europe. I live in Belgium and it seems really hard to find flaslight parts that do not come from the other side of the world...help?

You could try http://www.powerleds.de/shop/index.php/cat/c49_HID-Flashlight.html a german retailer who has the microfire HIDs as well as a amondotech HID. You won´t get the same prices as from US sources or from asia but David (he is also a member of CPF) provides superb service! And if you consider shipping (which won´t be cheap for larger HID lights) and customs the difference might not be that big anymore. The K3500R for example is about 352.- Euro at fenix-store.com, after german customs (5.7% customs + 19% tax) it is 443.- Euro. If your belgium customs is in the same range it would be almost the same price powerleds charges. I can´t find any details on his webpages but since they are available in english I suppose he ships international. And you can use paypal.

That's the first time I have seen the Amondotech HID sold in Europe. It is a great light I have one. I live in Finland and I ordered it straight from Amondotech.

By the way, I noticed when you click the Amondotech HID picture on the powerleds site the specifications are all wrong. Propably something that will be soon fixed.

EDIT: Diamondback have you checked the marketplace for cheap Sam's HIDs, almost the same as Amondotech but you might get one under 100 euros shipped.

Yep, it is strange, when you set the language to english everything is wrong (amondotech picture but Microfire K200R specs) while everything is ok when the language is set to german.

Btw., opticshq is throwing out their remaining Microfire K2000R 24W lights, even with shipping and customs it might be a steal. Take a look at the marketplace.

We have some good friends in Sweden at Liotec.se that offer several very popular brands. Take a look. If you do contact them tell Helena that John sent you from Liotec.

Good Luck

John

If the Specs for the light in the above link are correct, it is neither the Amonodtech or the Sam's HID's.
The Amondotech uses a 4200K bulb and the Sam's uses a 6,000K bulb.
The Bulbs do make a big difference.

Take Care,

If you are interested in building your own light you could take a small automotive HID unit (perhaps one meant for a motorcycle?) and build it into a handheld unit.
