I'm thinking about making a "quick and dirty" NiMH AAA battery pack for an R/C toy. I think the pack will consist of 10 AAA cells in series. I estimate the max amp draw will be b/w 4.5 to 6.5 amps. I know AAA cells (except for special Sanyo 720mah AAA cells) can't handle this type of amp draw. However, which set of cells can withstand a higher amp draw:

Duracell Accu AAA NiMH batteries, OR
Duracell Pre-Charged AAA NiMH batteries?

Are Duracell Pre-Charged AAA batteries relabeled eneloops? I know some of the Duracell Pre-Charged AAs are.

The Duracell Pre-Charged with white caps and "made in Japan" are rebadged Eneloops. If you are buying online and cannot inspect them beforehand just get real Eneloops. Several tests show that Eneloops are capable or easily maintaining 6 Amps and above.

But can AAA eneloops handle a 6 amp draw without significant voltage sag? I highly doubt it. Honestly, I don't know of any AAA NiMH batteries that can be purchased from an average store can handle that type of amp draw.

No, they really can't. Eneloops can manage a 2C discharge rate with decent performance, and maybe can stretch to 4C if you can put up with the voltage sag.

That means an AA cell can manage 4 amps and will get to 8 amps at a pinch. An AAA cell will manage 1.5 amps and maybe can stretch to 3 amps, but it will not like it.

That's what I figured, but which of the two Duracell NiMH cells can handle high amp draw the best?

They make AAA "Duraloops?"
