I stumbled upon here in CPF in search of small flashlight for my father. I am reading threads on CPF for weeks, and hoping you good guys can help me down the road.

Like many of you, I like gadgets including flashlights. But I do not worry too much about my wallet. I am not a impulsive buyer, and I am under overspending protection by a powerful device called "the wife", the ultimate wallet control unit.

Geez, what did I say. I guess the truth hurts. LOL.

You say you are looking for a small flashlight for your father. A good way to start would be to choose a battery size, and maybe a single AA or AAA are what you are thinking of. These lights are very pocketable and handy, and nowadays they are very bright for their size.

I'm going to move your thread to the LED Flashlight section, and you'll see quite a few threads there about these popular sizes. But if you have some other type in mind, let us know.

After reading threads here in CPF, I was able to narrow my choices down to few lights. I think either of them would work for him, and I am sure it's gonna be nice supprise for a person like him that only used old style plastic lights with 2 C batteries. My mother will get hers for her usual indoor use too.

There's a good way out of wife control: I helped mine in finding a hobby more expensive than flashlights. Now I can see her hiding her own credit card statement and not minding mine one bit ... :cool:

Sure, I will get something for me. No problem there. I know what I want, have a shopping list already, and got budget according to that. But before I start collecting mine, I'd like to buy something for my parents and wife.

The ultimate control unit... that's silly of me. Actually, she's quite understanding and forgiving. She is very frugal lady that spend less than what I spend. The safety pin is there not because someone is controlling, but because both of us try to keep thing as practical as possible.
