right behind you. LOOK!
I have been saying for years that the flashlight manufacturers MUST be sponsoring a lot of programs in Hollywood.
Why is it that on mystery/who done it type programs they NEVER turn the lights on?
Take CSI for example. Middle of the day, dead guy in an apartment, They walk in to this dark apartment with flashlights blazin'.
Why not just turn on the lights?
Or even open the window shades?
Why is it that the Coroner works in the dark except for the one light in the whole building over the cadaver?
They bring a car in for a thorough inspection. Once again, nobody remembers to turn on the lights in the garage. Wazup widat?
They come up to a car wreck in the middle of the Nevada afternoon and whip out a flashlight.

Have you ever walked into someones office and the only light on is the desk lamp?

Then there was Mulder and Scully... They must have had stock in a battery company!

So what do you think? Hollywood = Flashaholics?

I don't know if it's related to why they do it on TV, but I find it easier to visually discern "hunted" objects in a dark area with the lights off, only using the beam of a good flashlight.

Was recently searching my parents' basement for a blacksnake, using my E2 and Arc LS. With the lights off, it was much easier to focus only on where the flashlight pointed, and recognize anything abnormal.

Because they mustn`t disturbe the crime scene! I also find that it`s easier to see fine details with more light - illuminate stuff from different angles to enhance/reduce contrasts, etc. And besides, it looks good on film which is what matters, right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I`m guilty of using a flashlight where the room light would do. But I`m always forgetting to turn lights off again so when I`m working somewhere during the day I`ll be more inclined to fire up one or other of my EDCs in order to see if there`s a smoke detector in that dark room or not. Saves an irate janitor coming after me moaning that I`ve left all the lights on!

And it`s more fun! Any excuse to play with our lights is a good one, right?

and if you had a bunch of surefires in your possesion, you'd want every opportunity to use it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
