yes they are lith ion and i just bought the light and battery and the quick charger came free with buying the two and holy man's is this light bright i cant find anywhere the lumens but its brighter than any light i have ever used for 30 bucks. if you get one let me know how you like it

It's just a 1W LED light, nothing exceptional. Perhaps you are influenced by the narrow beam and long throw?

Doubtless someone could examine one closely and figure out what emitter it has. I'll take a look next time I'm in Home Depot.

101 percent chance it's just a LuxIII, the "standard" cheap emitter with a nice optic, and overdriven a tenth or so of an amp.

Well, I suppose it could be a Lux III, but running 6 hrs on an 18650, I'd speculate, as Mr H did, that it's driven at about 1 watt. :)

Take a look on CPF Marketplace at 4Sevens lights - a Quark AA standard is under $60 and is extremely bright in turbo mode. All of the Quarks have brightness levels that will "blow my socks off" compared to the light you have. If you can use RCR123's or 14500 Li-ion rechargeables in the Quarks you'll really get a surprising amount of light. 4sevens.com is his web site. A lot of the new lights from him or others that use the XP-E and XP-G LED's will put out an amazing amount of light. Even the somewhat older XR-E LED's from Cree can still put out a huge amount of light compared to the older Luxeon III's.

Safeway, The Stanley HID at Walmart - $70 buck for unbelievable light - flood and tremendous throw. If your world had been LED and incandescent, then you will be absolutely blown away with this HID.

thanks for the suggestion of light's......those quarks look pretty cool how do they compare to a surefire......or is a surefire just the designer light with a high price tag? i know they say there indestuctable but one of my coworkers has one paid a ton of money and when ever he uses it for a bit and drops it the light blows on him...i am in pest control and need durable, affordable and bright as the sun........thanks for all your help to a newbie guys........just for giggles though can anybody find out the lumens of the tek4 light by ryobi i looked everywhere.........thanks.......mike
