hot cheap IR laser

got this off ebay, sorry no pics thought it was "odd" that I could see the beam on my leg , my other IR laser is russian and totally invisible -a corsak weapon sight , anyway this unit that cost $69.00 plus shipping is labeled 808 nm class IIIa 20mw and is VERY hot when veiwed through my 3rd gen mini-14/MUM monocular , posting this for those out there who like me are wondering "are those cheapy IR units on ebay for real" -apparently so!! BTW the box is labeled LXGD

808nm isn't true IR it's more near IR. it's still in the spectrum of visibility. Hence the reason you can see it shining on your leg. Er are you using nv equipment to see that?

yes, I am using the NV monocular to see it- you can not see the dot at 10 feet with the naked eye, but with my gen III you see the whole beam , its like playing with a green laser in low light! for the price a neat toy, would not bet on its ability to resist recoil on a gun ,but it could have it uses:naughty:
