Hello Don,

After getting the McE2S for my L4 I am amazed how useful it is to be able to stand the light on end. I should also say that the two lighting levels are also great. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I have a U2 and find myself wishing it could stand on end as well...

I know that if such a tail cap switch was brought to bear, there would be some redundancy in the light levels if it was a two stage, but I think it would be kind of cool.

Six levels is great, but twelve would be the icing on the cake...

Any plans?

It has been tried and does not work - the regulation the U2 uses didn't like the resistor boars with wild flickering as a result.

A tailstand option would be sweet. don't need any more levels. I find myself only using three levels.

You would think that Surefire would have picked up on this by now ... is there some reason that they do not offer standard tail switch's that can be also be used as a stand? The only thing I can think of is they might consider this change as somehow making the light less tactical.

I guess the closest thing would be putting a Z49 tailcap on a U2 so you have the tail stand feature.

I didn't think they made them anymore, but I guess I'm wrong because they are on their website for $37. It doesn't say it is L5, L6 or U2 compatible, but I'll assume that is just an oversite since it fits the M2 & M3.

Surefire is mostly concerned with customers that use their lights outdoors. Tail-standing is an indoor sport.

BTW, after the recent embarressment of Donald Rumsfield in Iraq I saw a picture in LIFE magazine that showed the equipment which the Pentagon is now purchasing for almost every soldier. There was a SF light in the pic.---Marc
