Just joined CPF recently and caught the bug. Here are my purchases this past week:

- Batteries: AW RCR123's and 18650's (2600 mAh)
- EDC: Liteflux LF3XT
- "Occasional" DC: MG L-Mini II
- Middle Weight: Olight M20 Premium

Now looking to fill the highly portable power thrower slot......thinking about sticking with an 18650 base model since I will be set up battery-wise. Maybe an M30? Maybe the bound-to-be-bigger-but-more-awesome K90?

Thanks for all the great reading - it's all here! :twothumbs

Dereelight DBS V3.
Choice of throw (R2), flood (MC-E) or insane throw (R2+Aspheric).

you doing good. you are almost set..

just the big one. and maybe a backup for edc. and then one beater/loaner light.. and then keychain light.. and and and.. (i better shut up now.. hahha)

i personally am also still missing the Beast! has been for several months..

i tend to get carried away by all other bright things ..which explains why i have half a dozen different 1AA lights, all that i basically could edc.

I'm thinking at least a 2x18650 magazine............not sure if a DBS V3 configuration will accomodate?

You can get extension tubes and different light engines for the DBS, so 2x18650 would not be a problem. You would just need to order a DBS w/multi-power (3.4V - 16V) pill + an extension tube.

After getting an LS27, no collection is complete without a light that has more than one profile: low floody, mid/high throwy.

It's been said that no collection is complete without a McGizmo, considering how much I love them, I'd have to agree. But I have to wonder, are there any other lights like this with two different beam profiles set on two different power levels? I've heard about Surefire models that do this . . . I guess I'm off to use the search function as I've often urged newbs to do. :poke:

Okay, maybe I'll pick up a Surefire A2L. But at $239 and running off of 2 cells, it's bigger than my LS27. For my two cell lights (your midrange lights, OP) I've already got a 6P and Malkoff's MD2. I know it's less than half my McGizmo, but my McGizmo is Titanium as well!

See how hard it can be to stop this maddening hobby?!?!

Jetbeam M1X or Raptor RRT-1. The raptor will out-throw the M1X but the M1X will throw almost as far but with quite a bit bigger hotspot.

Is it worth waiting for a few/several weeks and see what develops with the Cree XP-G?

In the meantime, anybody know where I can put my hands on the "cheap thrills" Stanley 3000 HID spotlight? I checked at Wal Mart and saw no signs of it...............

The M30 is awesome, but definately NOT a thrower. It throws decent consdering it is an MC-E and has a smaller head, but the Jetbeam M1X blows it away.

The Dereelight DBS R2 might be a good choice too, because you can get the aspheric with it.

How about a Tiablo T9 with the asperical lens? This thing can throoooooooow and you can find a brand new one for $85 online (combo T9 AND aspheric lens). However, there is hardly any side spill and is strictly a thrower only with a smallish hotspot.

If you have $$$ to spend, check out the DEFT. Its an unbelievable thrower!

Let us know what you get

Sounds like you have some nice new toys.
I'm early in the game compared to many here, but I'll share my experience.

My first was a AAA for the keychain and to test the water with these new lights. If the little one makes an impression, perhaps I'll go further. It did and I did ;)

Next was a 123X2 for work use and more power, and then after gifting a single AA to a friend, I had to have one myself.

Curiosity killed the wallet and I purchased a 600 plus lumen light that qualifies as large compared to the others. It's amazing and fun to use when I need it.

Now, in real world use, I use the single AA most often for short tasks. Perhaps the size has something to do with it or the fact that it burns a single eneloop?

The keychain light gets the next amount of use because it's always with me around town.

The 2X 123 gets a workout when I need it in the work space, but it's 3rd on the actual time used list.

Yep, the big impressive guy is last on the list. Perhaps it's my situation, but the one light that really shows off what these new LEDs can do is the least used because of it's size. The others get most of the 'Light Time' everyday use, and there's quite a bit more than I used to have with the old basic flashlights.

I love having the 'Big One' here and I think I'll always have something like it in the collection for those few times I want the most light I can get, but the little guys get all the real work. If any of them ever go down, I won't hesitate to replace in an instant.

thedeske - thanks for relaying your experience. It is always interesting to hear about the roads that others have travelled. Actually, the my bigger light(s) will get quite a bit of use. Right now I'm getting by with a couple older cheap and cumbersome spotlights that never seem to hold much of a charge for very long.

Watched a few videos on youtube + did a little more reading. At the moment, the M1-X is looking pretty good.

I bought a P2D, P3D back a while ago.

Then I came here and bought a TK40

Then I wanted more throw, so I put my name down for a DEFT (mine should be built soonish).

Then I wanted a hotwire, so I bought a modamag monster, which is 250w and about 15k lumen.

Then I bought a cheap 4D maglite, so I wanted it to be really bright, so I bought a TLE-300

Then I wanted a cool aspheric, so I bought an Arc mania X6.

Then I wanted an EDC again, so I put a deposit on mac's new EDC light.

Now I want to mod another cheap 4D mag I have...and I want a Tiablo A10 and a Nitecore D10...

Dont be like me. It's really addictive. Actually, be like me cos its really fun! Not cheap though...

Sounds like a good choice. The battery setup and power settings are very flexible.

Ordered the M1X w/ extension tube. Had no preference between green or black, but ordered green to ensure getting the latest rev. Also ordered a Fenix headband for the LF3XT for hands-free stuff.

Thanks to all the suppliers supporting this site. I tried to "spread it around" a little making purchases from AW, ShiningBeam, Flashlightz, LED Cool and GoingGear. I finally figured out where the coupon codes were for my last order from GoingGear. Oh well.

Time to give the checkbook a rest. :)
