How are people getting pre-production LED lights?

I do not understand how people can get pre-production lights, LED or otherwise. I remember size15s saying he has a pre-production U2 and I have seen other sites that have LED lights from SureFire when I was informed they were not available yet. Please help me to understand how this works. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They are probably Beta Testers, someone who field-tests a prototype version of a product prior to its commercial release.

I have several musical equipment manufactor's endorsement's,
I do a lot of testing, and in exchange get discounted to production cost or comped gear. I am imagine it's a little of that and some of all the above.VDG
