I can do this with musicmatch but when I try to burn a CD it says it's "not recognized as a valid audio file".

So how do I convert an MP3 into a valid audio file?

I have screenblast soundforge (by sonic foundry) music editing software but I don't have a clue how to use it.

Any advice?

You should be able to do that with Nero (if you have it). Just select audio CD as the type and then add the MP3s to the compilation.

My experience with Nero and Roxio for burning music CD's is that they don't have any problem with mp3 files. You just select "create music CD" and select mp3 files. Conversion to CD digital audio happens automatically.

I dumped Musicmatch a long time ago because I reinstalled it too many times after doing a clean reinstallation of Windows and my registration key became invalid. I switched to LAME and RazorLAME combination for encoding mp3's at different bitrates and that will also convert mp3's to wav files. LAME is a DOS based mp3 encoder, and RazorLAME is a Windows interface for LAME.

Nero Burning ROM will convert it...no problem.

I use DB Power Amp for converting around between different music file standards.

A WAV is *not* the same as a regular CD audio track. It's just Microsofts' name for PCM file. A CD audio file allocates bits for parity, whereas a WAV file does not. Like the others have said, use Nero or Roxio EasyCD and select "Audio CD", and it will do the rest for you.
