how do i remove the top ring on the U2?

i wanna remove the top ring of the surefire U2
to clean the reflector and glass.
but i can't get it off, is there a trick to it?

i got the bezel off i was wondering if the part where it says "caution hot surface" is able to come off

What in the reflector needs to be cleaned? Does it affect performance? If it doesn't, I suggest leaving the light alone.

to me it looks like some specs and smudges in there i couldn't get out with soap and water and indirect co2 air blasting to dry...
iono im kinda OCD about these things so it's bothering me

do not go in there. there is a reason for it being a pain to open. you wont improve much of anything but theres a good chance youll be wanting surefires address to send it in if you attempt to clean in there.

He's right.

The head and reflector area is very very finicky.

Don't do it unless you are very confident or very adept.

Just send it back to SF.

That's the part you want to stay away from. Get just one smudge on the reflector and you'll be beating yourself forever for that.

Yea, we as end users don't historically do a good job on reflector cleaning!
Think scratches, smudges, and ruin!
Do yourself a favor, send it back.

they dont clean it. if its bad enough they give you a new one. if not they send you an email telling you to get a life and actually use that damn light.

i don't think it's bad enough to where they'll replace it....

and i do use it this light has been my main light for 2 years already
