Sorry for the weird comparison question, but I just happen to have the $18 Stanley 580 lumen, 1M spotlight and am interested in Thrunites catapault. Of course the thrunite is smaller, lighter, lasts longer and probably (I don't know) has more lumens ... but in regards to the throw can the Catapult throw as far as the stanley beam?

Thanks

rick

Let me know in a day or two if you have no response here, and I'll move it to the Spotlights section to try there.

Hi Rick,
I'm a firm believer in the old adage, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Granted the Stanley 1M is not included in the beamshot video, but several legends in the making are. The Catapult supposedly puts out 900 lumens at the emitter and should produce 700 lumens out the front (OTF). Be ready to use the pause button while watching the video as the beamshots move steadily along. Nice choice in the Catapult by the way and I'm sure you will enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp2KU7tdd2U&feature=related

OK I know this is the most unscientific sounding test, but I live in a residential part of Colorado Springs where all the houses have aproximately 1/3 of an acre.
Standing in front of my garage of course it will light up the house across the street. Most houses are single stories with about every 4th being two stories. It easily lights the double story 5 houses down from the house across the street but it doesn't do much to the 2nd story house 9 houses down the street. (Hmmmm .... maybe I should do the google earth measuring thing I heard on here :)).
The Stanley also will easily light up the entire living room in the pitch black poining in any direction but down ... ie you could a read a book no matter which way the light was facing as long as it wasn't straight down or straight at you.

Would the smaller, longer lasting ThruNite Catapult be able to do the same 2 things? What say ye ...
