How does this river rock come apart?

I tried putting the shiny trim ring in the vice and twisting but no dice

Inova not river rock. The stainless bezel is pressed into the Aluminum tube. I have never heard of anyone forcefully taking these apart. Your best chance is to freeze pop it. Its a scary procedure, but I did it to my X1 and fixed an intermittent emitter.

do a cpf search for "freezer" you should be able to find some older threads on it.
