Joe, there are hot swap trays that fit in a 5.25 bay and can use HDDs, CD, or DVD drives (IDE interface). You can also buy or make a USB HDD (firewire also). The stuff is sold on eBay and other places.

The computers are both laptops, I can't believe I left that out.
The PCMCIA card slot seems to not work. I had a friend, who is a telecomuting network admin, take the old one home to hook up to his network and burn the hard drive onto CD-R's but he couldn't get it to work. I thought about getting a USB CDR but decided not to spend the $.
I got the 128MB flash drive and will start transfering later this AM.
Thanks for all the help!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I need to move some data from an older computer to a newer one. USB 1 (.1?) to USB 2 (.0?), will a new drive work in a USB 1 port? Does data move fairly quickly and reliably?
I figure I can move 1 Gig in 10 transfers with a 128 Meg-Right?
TIA

My experience has been that you have to have at least a
later edition of Win 98 for these drives to work.
98 also requires you to install proper drivers
from CD. ME onward does not need drivers installed.
