I am a lurker of the forums and have recently had some more ambitious goals with lights than just buying factory produced torches. I purchased an Insight X2 Weapon light that was re-branded the XML by Springfield Armory. For all practical purposes, this light is the Insight X2. Anyways, this light uses a single CR2 battery with a switching mechanism that allows you to flip the light on and off with your index (trigger) finger. Here are some links that might help you to get better acquainted with the setup:

Link to actual incandescent bulb assembly: http://www.productwizard.com/insightcfl010.html
Link to bezel assembly (for closer look at factory equipment): http://www.productwizard.com/insightcfl009.html
Thread about one guy converting his X2 to LED: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=183636
Another picture of the assembly minus the bezel: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38...o2/misc085.jpg
Anyways, that gives you a little background. What the ultimate goal here is, is to convert this incandescent weapon light to LED. The current light puts out a claimed 40 lumens powered by one CR2 battery. I would be happy with an LED conversion that would match this output, but I would be thrilled with an LED conversion that would exceed this brightness. I assume that the way the bulb sits inside of the plastic of this assembly will give me some limitations, but I am curious to hear what you all think can be done to this light. I would like to hear a ballpark figure on how much you believe it would cost to do something like this. I guess it would all depend on the type of LED I went with.
Thanks!
Chris
